Murray: Trump Administration Reorganization Proposal is “Unrealistic, Unhelpful, and Futile”

The following press release was published by the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on June 21, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released the following statement today on the reports that the Trump Administration is going to propose a major reorganization and consolidation of the federal government.

“Rather than spending their energy proposing unrealistic, unhelpful, and futile reorganizations of the federal government just to have a new talking point, President Trump and Secretaries DeVos, Azar, and Acosta should start undoing some of the chaos and harm they have caused to children, students, workers, patients, and families across the country. Democrats and Republicans in Congress have rejected President Trump’s proposals to drastically gut investments in education, health care, and workers-and he should expect the same result for this latest attempt to make government work worse for the people it serves."
