Today, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo met with the Philippine Secretary of Trade and Industry Ramon Lopez to discuss the U.S.-Philippines commercial relationship, the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, and our countries’ collaboration to facilitate cross-border data flows. Secretary Raimondo expressed gratitude to Secretary Lopez and the Philippine government for its support and contributions to the Cross Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) Working Group as the U.S. and other participating members of the APEC CBPR System continue to work together to expand participation in the CBPR System. Secretary Raimondo also invited Secretary Lopez and other members of the Philippine government to share views on the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework as the United States moves towards launching the Framework.
