Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) applauded the Biden Administration and the agency leaders under the Committee’s jurisdiction for releasing the first-ever Equity Action Plans:
“Just last week, the Ways and Means Committee heard from a panel of experts about the urgency of addressing the systemic racial inequities in our society to finally deliver opportunity and prosperity for all, and today’s Equity Action Plans are key to making this a reality. By addressing the inequities in our policies, we will improve the lives of Americans, and people around the world. From strengthening labor protections, to expanding health care coverage, to collecting more holistic demographic data, the Biden Administration is focused on commonsense actions that will support underserved communities and individuals who have been left out for far too long, and the Ways and Means Committee stands ready to partner in this work.
“With the competitiveness legislation conference committee on the horizon, the trade provision in the America COMPETES Act is critical to achieving more equitable trade policy, and I look forward to advocating for its inclusion in the coming weeks.”
