Today, Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves met with Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Tadashi Maeda to discuss opportunities to enhance infrastructure development, trade, and economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region between the Department of Commerce and the JBIC, particularly in the areas of energy and supply chain resiliency. During their meeting, Deputy Secretary Graves emphasized the Department’s appreciation for Japan’s strong support as the United States prepares to launch the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework with its partners, including Japan, and welcomed Governor Maeda’s views on the needs of the region that could be supported through the framework.
