Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo called the Build Back Better Regional Challenge the marquee of the Economic Development Administration’s American Rescue Plan programs and represents the Biden administration’s commitment to rebuilding communities.
The Department of Commerce highlighted remarks made by Raimondo at the Build Back Better Regional Challenge Showcase, according to an April 26 release.
“I am thrilled to join you this afternoon to see the extraordinary collaboration that you have undertaken to deliver transformative economic opportunity across the country,” Raimondo said, according to the release.
She said this was the beginning of the conversation and that the administration looks forward to working together on promoting economic opportunities that prove transformative, especially for historically underserved communities, the release reported.
The finalists’ work was impressive, and the Commerce Department was pleased to work with them, Raimonda said, according to the release. She congratulated them, along with their coalitions, on completing Phase 2 applications.
“Thank you for your commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic development. This showcase provides an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, learn from one another and explore funding and other partnerships that can help strengthen our communities, regions and our nation overall,” she said, according to the release.
