Administrator Sullivan's statement on Klamath Agreement

The following news release was published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Dec. 23, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

"The Klamath Basin Restoration Agreement is the collective work of many people who care deeply about the future of the Klamath Basin, and we are all disappointed to see it lapse. The parties to the agreement have experienced the challenge of supporting agriculture and restoring salmon fisheries amid ongoing drought. In the agreement, they looked beyond their own interests to find a lasting solution to what has been an intractable conflict. In that sense, it will always stand as an important step forward. While the expiration of the agreement is most certainly a serious setback, I’m hopeful that the relationships and trust that it fostered will live on."
