Senate Approves Summers to be Treasury Secretary

WASHINGTON -- With a vote of 97 to 2, the Senate today approved the nomination of Lawrence H. Summers, to be Secretary of the Treasury.

He was confirmed by the Senate Finance Committee on June 22, 1999.
