Roth Urges President to Repeal the Death Tax

WASHINGTON -- Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE) today released the following statement:

"Today Congress is sending the President a bill to repeal the death tax," Roth stated. "Families who toil all their lives to build a business or family farm and diligently save and invest should not be penalized for their hard work when they die. The estate and gift taxes are a disincentive to succeed and should be eliminated. I hope that President Clinton will give Americans the relief they deserve and sign this bill into law."
