WASHINGTON -- Today, the Senate Finance Committee approved, by voice vote, the Chairman's modification of H.R. 4844, the "Railroad Retirement and Survivors' Improvement Act." This bill would improve benefits under the Railroad Retirement system and modernize its financing.
"It is great news that with this vote, we are one step closer to providing railroad retirees and their survivors with increased benefits, as well as making necessary changes to update and modernize the railroad employee benefit system," stated Senate Finance Committee Chairman William V. Roth, Jr. (R-DE).
