Hatch Statement on FAA Reauthorization Deal

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Aug. 5, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, today issued the following statement on a compromise to extend the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) operating authority into September:

“Today, common sense prevailed in Washington. Senate Democrats rightly pushed past partisan politics and agreed to a reasonable resolution to restore funding for the FAA and put 74,000 workers back to work. When it came down to it, losing nearly $30 million per day to protect $16.5 million in subsidies just didn’t make sense. Now it’s time for Congress to get down to work and resolve its differences, including excessive favors for big labor in the long-term FAA reauthorization."
