Hatch on President’s Jobs Speech to Congress

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on Sept. 8, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, issued the following statement this evening after the President delivered remarks to a Joint Session of Congress:

“The President’s plan is nothing new. It simply doubles down on the same failed policies that he has pursued before. And, I don’t expect they will be any more successful than they were the first time around. I know the President doesn’t relish seeing so many millions of Americans out of work. But I fear what he’s putting forward owes more to political positioning than sound economics and tax policy.

“We need a different approach that puts the American people, not Washington, back in charge. That means pursuing meaningful tax reform, serious deficit reduction, and regulatory roll-back, all of which would have a positive impact on economic growth and job creation. These are the policies that Utahns and Americans deserve."
