Wyden, Brown, Casey: Congress Must Extend CHIP Now

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on March 11, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON -Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Sens. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Bob Casey, D-Pa., took to Twitter today to voice the urgent need for Congress to extend the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) immediately, as it stands in current law. Groups participating included Moms Rising, Families USA, First Focus, American Academy of Pediatrics, Children’s Hospital Association and members of the Democratic caucus (view their tweets here ).

10 million kids and their families across America depend on CHIP for quality, affordable health insurance. Many states must set their budgets by the end of March and children may face a loss of coverage if CHIP is not extended by then. The senators called on Congress to not play politics with kids’ health and to pass a clean extension of CHIP straightaway.
