Wyden Statement on Latest GOP Health Care Proposal

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on April 26, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement following the release of a new amendment to the House Republican health care bill:

“Republicans’ latest attempt to pass Trumpcare reveals what they believe in: waivers to discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions, roll back essential health benefits, and put insurance companies back in charge of your health care," Wyden said. “I already authored Section 1332 in the Affordable Care Act, which created a waiver for states to make health care better, not worse. If these members were interested in improving Americans’ health care instead of checking a political box, they would stop this misguided effort to sabotage millions of Americans’ health care and start fresh on a bipartisan basis to improve the law."
