Wyden Statement on Latest NAFTA Discussions

The following press release was published by the United States Senate Committee on Finance Chairman's News on April 6, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement on the latest NAFTA discussions:

“I am encouraged that progress has been made with respect to the efforts to modernize NAFTA," Wyden said. “It’s my hope that a final agreement will create more good-paying jobs in the United States and reflect the modern, increasingly digital American economy. As these negotiations intensify and enter into the final stages, it is imperative that the Trump Administration provide more transparency into what its aiming to achieve and to improve its consultations with Congress. Transparency and consultation are necessary to ensure that an updated NAFTA can receive Congressional approval and are critical to ensuring an updated NAFTA delivers on the priorities Americans demand, and reflects input from more than the President’s inner circle."
