Rangel Statement on Haliburton Moving Off-Shore

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on March 12, 2007. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The House Committee on Ways and Means Chairman Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) issued the following statement on Haliburton relocating its corporate headquarters to Dubai:

“While I’m not surprised Haliburton has decided to move its corporate headquarter closer to the source of its profits in Iraq, it is nonetheless another sad example of American companies increasingly moving off-shore. I am troubled by the continued outsourcing of jobs and am eager to find out how the tax code can be strengthened to encourage American companies to reinvest here rather than abroad. I hope my friends in the administration, including former Haliburton CEO Dick Cheney, share this goal."
