WASHINGTON, DC - Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) and Ranking Member Jim McCrery (R-LA) issued the following joint statement on the status of negotiations over a new trade policy for America:

“We are still actively negotiating on trade policy with all parties and at all levels. While there may have been rumors of misunderstandings about language on both sides, there has not been any mistrust. We will continue working into the foreseeable future to resolve any remaining differences."

Chairman Rangel issued the following additional statement on the talks:

“Just this morning I spoke with both USTR Schwab and Treasury Secretary Paulson, and we reaffirmed that the talks are still wide open," said Chairman Rangel.
