WASHINGTON, D.C. - Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles B. Rangel (D-NY) issued following opening remarks during today’s hearing with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on President Obama’s budget outline for Fiscal Year 2011:
“It is abundantly clear that we must find some way to build confidence in our economy, particularly for small businesses. I look forward to hearing more from the Administration on their budget proposals to see where we can find common ground and advance solutions to the challenges we face. I would ask Ranking Member Camp to consider working with us and our staff to analyze the proposals and identify areas where we can work together in a bipartisan fashion. The pain that families feel is not partisan, it is very real, and we need to find a way to overcome the political difficulties we face to pass legislation that will create jobs and restore economic security for the millions of families who continue to struggle during this recovery period."
