Levin -- Statement on May Jobs Report

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on June 1, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) issued the following statement today regarding the release of the May jobs report:

“Today’s jobs report shows the need for Congress to act on legislation to help job growth. Time and time again on issue after issue, the rigid ideological agenda of congressional Republicans has stood in the way of pro-growth policies, whether they involve long-overdue transportation and infrastructure legislation or the to-do list that President Obama recently laid out to give businesses a direct incentive to invest and hire here in the United States.

“For 27 straight months the economy has added jobs - a significant achievement considering the dire situation our nation faced just a few years ago. Clearly there is much more work to be done, and it is time for Republicans to stop rooting against our recovery and join the effort to put our economy on a firmer footing."
