Levin Statement in Response to Camp Subpoena of CMS Documents

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Nov. 5, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) released the following statement in response to subpoenas issued by Chairman Camp:

“In response to Chairman Camp’s November 1 subpoena threat, Administrator Marilyn Tavenner made clear that CMS wants to provide ‘reliable and accurate enrollment information,’ and would provide that information by mid-November.

“Chairman Camp’s subpoena to compel information that will be accurately available in two weeks is nothing more than a manifestation of how far Republicans will go to thwart implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Such a partisan subpoena request is contrary to the history and traditions of the Ways and Means Committee."
