Camp Statement on December Jobs Report

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Feb. 5, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, DC - Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released its unemployment report for December 2013.

“The unemployment rate may have dropped again, but it is clear we must do more - especially for those dropping out of the workforce - to provide job opportunities for American workers. The only lasting way to reduce poverty and move people from collecting an unemployment check to the pride of earning a paycheck is to make sure more people have good jobs. Just yesterday, Congress took the first step toward advancing new job-creating trade agreements with the introduction of the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities Act. It will be important for Congress and the Administration to come together to pass such legislation, along with other meaningful job measures like tax reform."
