Pallone, Levin, Scott: The ACA is Working

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on June 25, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Today, the top Democrats from the House Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means, and Education and the Workforce committees issued the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a core tenet of the Affordable Care Act in King v. Burwell. Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Ways and Means Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI), and Education and the Workforce Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) are the lead Democrats on the committees with jurisdiction over the Affordable Care Act:

“Today, the Supreme Court of the United States reaffirmed that the American people, no matter where they live in this country, still have the right to access quality, affordable health insurance. Legal experts had always considered the case attacking the Affordable Care Act to be legally frivolous.

“We are thankful that today the Supreme Court made it clear that the Affordable Care Act includes tax credits for eligible Americans, including those purchasing coverage in the federal Marketplace. We look forward to continuing to work in Congress, with the Administration and other stakeholders, to ensure robust implementation of the law going forward."
