House Passes Bill to Promote Clinical Trials

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Sept. 29, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) released the following statement upon passage of S. 139, the Ensuring Access to Clinical Trials Act of 2015.

“If we’re going to find cures for the 7,000 rare diseases in the United States, then we need more people to participate in clinical trials. This bill prevents needless government disincentives for trial participants and makes it easier for researchers to find the breakthroughs patients need. This policy has a proven track record of success, and extending it is just common sense."
