“My heart breaks at the diagnosis my dear friend and colleague John Lewis shared today. His moral leadership has been a guiding light for the Ways and Means Committee, the Congress, and our nation for much of the modern era. With an unfaltering love for others and resolute commitment to do what is right, he has changed our world for the better using humility and grace. I have no doubt that John will fight this terrible disease with the tenacity that’s characterized his lifelong service and pursuit of justice. My prayers are with him, his family, and all his loved ones at this difficult time."
