Neal Applauds First Round of Monthly Advance Child Tax Credit Payments

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on July 15, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC- Today, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the first round of expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) monthly advance payments, which begin reaching millions of American families today:

“Today, hard-working American families will receive much-needed financial relief. Thanks to the advance Child Tax Credit payments, millions will be able to put food on the table, keep a roof over their heads, and afford daily essentials, like diapers and formula. Ways and Means Committee Democrats fought to expand the Child Tax Credit as part of the American Rescue Plan because we understand that American families need this timely and life-changing support. The advanceable, expanded version of the Child Tax Credit will quickly get money into the pockets of parents who are still struggling as a result of the pandemic. I will continue to work to permanently extend the expanded CTC to ensure long-term, sustainable support for America’s families."
