After the second day of Democrats’ effort to ram a $3.5 trillion tax hike and spending spree through Congress, Ways and Means Republican Leader Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) issued the following statement:
“Another day, another $314 billion spent expanding the welfare state in America.
“Ways and Means Democrats chose their socialist priorities over America’s priorities by siding with special interests over crucial medical research, support for pregnant moms and health care for people of color.
“Their race to $3.5 trillion meant rejecting commonsense GOP demands to help blue-collar energy workers, displaced workers, and communities most harmed by President Biden’s trade moratorium and his war on energy.
“Democrats also opted against protecting seniors and their health care, whether it meant voting to allow more COVID-19 nursing home death cover-ups or choosing instead to recklessly expand Medicare with no reforms to save the program that nears bankruptcy in a mere five years."
