Neal and Brady on Surprise Billing Court Ruling

The following press release was published by the U.S. Congress Committee on Ways and Means on Feb. 24. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) and Ranking Member Kevin Brady (R-TX) issued the following statement regarding yesterday’s federal court ruling on surprise medical billing:

“Yesterday’s decision affirms that the No Surprises Act, as written, will continue to protect patients but must swiftly be implemented according to the letter of the law to ensure fairness in resolving surprise medical billing disputes. A level playing field is essential. Processes that tip the scales towards either party are untenable, and will result in worse outcomes for patients."
