Matt Tracy was selected as the Bureau of Reclamation’s chief security officer. As part of the Policy and Programs directorate, the Security Division works with regional and field organizations to protect employees, the public and Reclamation facilities. The division also coordinates with law enforcement, provides oversight of guards and patrols, leads risk-based security assessments, and is responsible for personnel security and intelligence support.
"Protecting our employees, the public, and facilities is critical for Reclamation to ensure water delivery and power generation," said Policy and Programs Director Christopher Beardsley. "Matt has been an important part of the Security Division and brings a wide range of skills and many years of experience to help him begin his new role at Reclamation."
Tracy joined Reclamation in 2013 as the director of security for the Lower Colorado Dams Office in Boulder City, Nevada, overseeing security at Hoover, Davis and Parker Dams. In 2016, he joined the Security, Safety and Law Enforcement Office in Denver as a supervisory security specialist. Before joining Reclamation, Tracy was a Pottawattamie County, Iowa, deputy sheriff, and a chief of operations and security assessment team instructor in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Tracy holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice administration and a Master of Science in security management from Bellevue University in Nebraska.
