DOS-UZB grant application closes on April 15

The DOS U.S. Mission to Uzbekistan is offering a grant open from Feb. 16 to April 15.

The grant could provide up to $50,000.

The U.S. Embassy Tashkent Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce funding is available through the Embassy's Democracy Commission (DemCom) Small Grants Program. This program supports the development of Uzbekistan's democratic institutions and civil society by competitively awarding small grants to Uzbekistan's non-profit, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and associations, to non-profit civil society organizations (CSOs), and to independent local media organizations.Background:The U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section (PAS) in Tashkent is soliciting proposals for grants from Uzbekistan's civil society and independent media organizations that focus on one of the priority areas/themes specified below. Applicants should pay close attention to the Public Affairs Section's goals, priority program areas, and target audiences when developing their proposals.Overall Program Goals: Increase the capacity of civil society organizations in Uzbekistan to respond to the country's urgent social needs, and increase citizen participation in governance through effective implementation of reforms and laws on civil society, government transparency and citizen oversight.
