DOI-USGS1 grant application closes on May 5

The DOI Geological Survey is offering a grant open from April 5 to May 5.

The grant could provide up to $159,405.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner to assist with the hydrodynamic support for coastal ecosystem restoration. CESU and USGS partners will work closely to integrate data to best describe the relationships among Cladophora, nutrient concentrations, light conditions, and dreissenid mussel abundance that lead to the widespread success of Cladophora in a drastically altered ecosystem. Further, the benthic ecosystem, which is strongly influenced by both algae and invasive mussels, supports many other species of interest (e.g., microbes, macroinvertebrates, native and nonnative fish species) influencing various ecosystem processes (e.g., nutrient cycling, energy flow, trophic dynamics) are additional targets for habitat characterization and identify areas for restoration.
