Smith: MS-13 gang member 'will begin to face the consequences of his life of crime'

An investigation led by Homeland Security Investigations in Baltimore resulted in a life sentence for a member of the MS-13 gang.

Milton Portillo Rodriguez, 26, also known as Little Gangster or Seco, received a life sentence in a federal prison for racketeering, racketeering conspiracy, attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering and other related violent crimes in aid of racketeering, including three murders in his role with the La Mara Salvatrucha, MS-13, gang, according to a May 17 Immigration and Customs Enforcement news release.

“The brutality of his actions was reflected in the severity of his prison sentence. Today he will begin to face the consequences of his life of crime," Selwyn Smith, special agent in charge of HSI Baltimore, said in the news release. "HSI Baltimore is proud to have worked with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to bring Portillo Rodriguez to justice. HSI Baltimore will continue to work to protect the law-abiding citizens of Maryland from notorious criminal elements like MS-13.”

According to the release, HSI Baltimore received help from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Baltimore Field Office, the Frederick City Police Department, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Prince George’s County Police Department, the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Montgomery County Police Department and the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.
