DeLauro Introduces Legislation to Provide Additional Support to Ukraine

House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) today introduced H.R. 7691, a supplemental to provide more than $40 billion in emergency funding to support the Ukrainian people and defend global democracy in the wake of Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine.

“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has cost thousands of innocent lives, devastated cities across the region, and fueled a humanitarian crisis, rising costs, and food insecurity around the world,” Chair DeLauro said. “In March, Congress came together quickly to support the people of Ukraine and protect global democracy. With Russia’s continued assault, we must act with the same urgency to provide this additional emergency funding. We have a moral responsibility to deliver this support to help end the grievous loss of life, hold Putin and his cronies accountable, and protect global democracy.”

The Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act provides critical funding to help Ukraine defend itself and protect its democracy, hold Russian leaders accountable, address rapidly growing food insecurity globally because of the conflict in Ukraine, and provide critical refugee support services.
