Washington, DC -Congressman Howard L. Berman (D-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said the findings of a GAO report issued today prove the need for a comprehensive strategy for U.S. foreign assistance efforts.

“This report underscores the need for a foreign assistance strategy that lays out the purpose and goals of the aid we provide to other countries. I will soon introduce legislation to ensure that the United States has a comprehensive strategy to reduce global poverty and promote broad-based economic growth in developing countries."

Berman requested the GAO report along with Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ).
