Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement regarding the State Department’s designation of Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
“Today’s announced State Department designation of Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis as a terrorist organization is welcomed news. This group is responsible for multiple assassinations in Egypt as well as attacks against Israel, the Egyptian military and foreign tourists visiting the country. They are an enemy of the Egyptian people, our allies in the region and global peace. We must treat them as such.".
