WASHINGTON, DC-Representative Eliot L. Engel, the leading Democrat on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement regarding the capture of Ahmed Abu Khatallah for his role in the terrorist attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty.

“The capture of Ahmed Abu Khatallah by our military, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals sends a clear message: those responsible for the Benghazi attacks will be held to account, and anyone who would harm Americans will be pursued and brought to justice. I commend President Obama for authorizing this operation, and I hope Abu Khatallah’s capture and trial will provide a measure of comfort to the families and loved ones of those killed in Benghazi.".
