Engel Statement on Overwhelming Senate Passage of Russia Sanctions Legislation

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on July 27, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON-Representative Eliot L. Engel, Ranking Member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement.

"I'm pleased that tough sanctions against America's adversaries will soon be law. This bill accomplishes a great deal. Perhaps most important is the bipartisan consensus that Russia must face consequences for interfering in last year's election and that neither party or house of Congress will stand idly by as the Trump Administration gives Putin a free pass. The President must sign this law without delay, and if he chooses not to do so, Congress should immediately override his veto.".
