McCaul Statement on Appointment of U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism

Washington D.C. - House Foreign Affairs lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX) released the following statement on yesterday’s appointment of Elan Carr as the U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism.

Lead Republican McCaul: “I applaud the appointment of Elan Carr to serve as the U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism. Elan has served the Jewish community by leading in a number of capacities and continues to serve our nation in the U.S. Army Reserve. While stationed in Iraq, he was active in the American Jewish soldiers’ community by conducting religious services and even lighting Chanukah candles in what was once Saddam Hussein’s presidential palace. Earlier this month, the House passed a bipartisan bill to elevate the Special Envoy to the rank of Ambassador so that the stature of this position better reflects the caliber of its importance. No region or country is immune from this hatred, and I remain committed to ensuring that fighting the scourge of anti-Semitism around the globe remains a top U.S. priority.".
