Washington D.C. - Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul (R-TX) released the following statement on the release of U.S. permanent resident, Nizar Zakka, from his wrongful imprisonment in Iran.
Lead Republican McCaul: “I am very pleased that Iran has finally released Nizar Zakka, an American resident who has been unjustly detained since 2015 and subjected to brutal treatment. I hope that he can soon return to the United States to be reunited with his family.
“Several other Americans are still being held captive by the Iranian regime today. I call on Tehran to immediately release all Americans they continue to hold.".
