McCaul Reaffirms Commitment to Two-State Solution in the Middle East, Opposes Harmful House Resolution

The following press release was published by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on Dec. 6, 2019. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement opposing H. Res. 326 and reaffirming his support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“Earlier this year, I proudly supported a two-state solution as part of the bipartisan H. Res. 246. My support for a two-state solution is unwavering. However, with H. Res. 326, progressive Democrats are using the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a political tool meant to embarrass Israel and the Trump Administration. For this reason, I opposed the resolution today. I will continue to advocate for a negotiated solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict resulting in two democratic states living side-by-side in peace, security, and mutual recognition, but we must do so in a way that respects our friend and ally Israel.".
