Washington, DC - House Foreign Affairs Lead Republican Michael McCaul released the following statement following the tragic attacks in Iraq on February 15th.
“I am deeply troubled by the attacks in Erbil. I offer my condolences to those affected and to the Iraqi people. The group that claimed responsibility for this heinous attack has a history of claiming assaults on coalition targets in Iraq. Importantly, this group is widely believed to have ties to Iran-backed fighters in Iraq. I urge the Biden Administration to make clear these attacks are unacceptable by holding those responsible accountable, including Iran or Iran-linked entities if they are found to be responsible. I will keep a close eye on any investigation into these brutal attacks.".
