Meeks Issues Statement on the Earthquake in Haiti

Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Gregory W. Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement regarding the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti Saturday morning.

“My prayers are with the people of Haiti as they contend with another devastating earthquake. As rescue operations continue, I hold the families who are still missing loved ones in my thoughts.

“The United States stands ready to provide continued support and relief for Haiti, which I am pleased to see the Biden administration already begin to administer through USAID. I urge the international community to join together in providing assistance during this tragic time, and stand in solidarity with the people of Haiti."
