Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman continued to work from home after announcing she tested positive for COVID-19.
Sherman said that she had been experiencing minor symptoms. Since then she has been working remotely from home per the CDC guidelines, according to a May 23 post on Twitter.
"Over the weekend, I tested positive for COVID-19," Sherman said in her Twitter post. “I am thankful to the @StateDept MED team for taking excellent care of me and all our colleagues around the world during this pandemic."
Sherman and Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently met with Saudi Arabia's Deputy Defense Minister, Khalid bin Salman, she said in a May 21 Twitter post. They held discussions on issues considered as important to the U.S.-Saudi relationship, including Yemen, Ukraine and human rights. Sherman had not shared if she was considered as a close contact to anyone overseas in the delegation.
Blinken tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this year despite being vaccinated and boosted, ABC News reported. His positive test came after attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington the previous weekend. He was not considered as a close contact to President Joe Biden. Blinken took the necessary precautions during that time and worked remotely, the report said.
