SENATOR COLLINS’ STATEMENT ON SOUTHERS’ WITHDRAWAL

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine), Ranking Member of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, today released this statement following the announcement that the President’s nominee to lead the Transportation Security Administration, Erroll Southers, has withdrawn his name from consideration.

“The important mission of the TSA will require a focused and determined leader. It is critically important that the White House act quickly to nominate someone with qualifications and reputation which are beyond reproach to lead this agency."
