In a letter to the bill’s sponsors - Senators Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., Susan Collins, R-Maine, Jay Rockefeller, D-West. Va., and Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. -- CompTIA said it appreciated being included in discussions about the legislation.
“The process leading up to the introduction of the proposed legislation has been open and deliberative, and we commend you for adopting such an approach toward these very important issues," wrote CompTIA Chief Executive Officer Todd Thibodeaux, “We believe the Cybersecurity Act of 2012 will protect many components of this [cybersecurity] ecosystem such as critical infrastructures, information sharing practices, and reforming the Federal Information Security Management Act."
The non-profit trade organization also singled out for special commendation Title IV of the bill, which covers education, recruitment, and workforce development.
CompTIA says it represents the $3 trillion global information technology industry, and members include hardware manufacturers, software developers, technology experts, and IT specialists.
