LIEBERMAN RESPONSE TO RELEASE OF ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS ON SECRET SERVICE

The following press release was published by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on June 15, 2012. It is reproduced in full below.

WASHINGTON - Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., issued the following statement Friday after the release of documents from the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General in response to a Freedom of Information request:

“On Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General briefed me on his comprehensive and independent inquiry into the Cartagena incidents and the culture of the Secret Service that he is conducting at our request.

“The documents released in response to an FOIA request cover a wide range of allegations, including complaints intended for the Secret Service to investigate, such as threats made against the President. I urge the public to refrain from reaching any conclusions until the IG has finished his investigation and reports back to our Committee."
