U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested an undocumented individual with a prior sexual offense conviction, early Monday morning.
At approximately 2:12 a.m., agents apprehended seven individuals who illegally entered the United States through the desert area east of the city of Calexico. Through interview it was determined that none of the individuals possessed the proper documentation to be legally present United States. The individuals were placed under arrest and transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center.
Record checks revealed that one of the individuals, a 53-year-old male, Columbian national, was convicted of Incest-Sexual Acts with a Minor Under the age of 14 in Columbia.
Since Oct. 1, 2021, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and/or removed 15 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual offense charges.
U.S. Border Patrol will process all the individuals accordingly.
