Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. released the following statement today in response to Republicans’ latest “plan” to address climate and energy issues:
“While families struggle to pay the high price for our continued reliance on volatile fossil fuels, the House Republican plan doubles down on keeping our nation dependent on this unpredictable, unreliable, and unsustainable market. It’s clear they have learned nothing from this global energy crisis and intend to do nothing to protect Americans from either this one or the next one. This House Republican proposal simply recycles old, bad ideas that amount to little more than handouts to oil companies. It is a stunning display of insincerity to admit climate change is a problem but to propose policies that make it worse. If my Republican colleagues were serious, they would have voted for any one of the numerous bills Democrats have put forward to lower energy prices, cut carbon pollution, or bolster clean energy here at home.”
