Border Patrol Agents Arrest Convicted Sex Offender

U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Brackettville Station apprehended a convicted sex offender, June 3.

Agents encountered Marvin Alexander Clavel, 39, a citizen of Guatemala, shortly after he illegally entered the United States by crossing the Rio Grande River.

During processing at the Brackettville Station, records checks revealed that in August 2007, Clavel was convicted of Lewd or Lascivious Act with a Minor in California and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Clavel was ordered removed from the United States was in December 2013.

As a convicted felon, he faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 – re-entry after deportation.

During fiscal year 2022, Oct. 1, 2021, through April 30, 2022, Del Rio Sector agents have encountered more than 1,269 criminal migrants.
