On June 16, Administrator Power met with a delegation of Ukrainian Members of Parliament to discuss the Government of Ukraine’s evolving needs as Russia’s unprovoked war enters its fourth month. The meeting focused on what support Ukraine will require for recovery and reconstruction and ongoing life-saving humanitarian assistance efforts supported by USAID. The group discussed how to continue to work together to get urgently needed assistance to those who need it most. The delegation shared its vision for a post-war Ukraine, including how the global community can assist it to recover and rebuild. The head of the delegation, David Arakhamia, emphasized that Ukrainian public officials have already initiated comprehensive planning for its post-war priorities, which will shape future requests for support.

The Administrator reiterated the United States’ support for a Ukrainian-led recovery and its commitment to helping rebuild the economy as quickly as possible. She noted USAID’s continued focus on transparency and accountability, highlighting a need to advance efforts to root out corruption and to complete required reforms across several sectors. She emphasized USAID’s efforts to work more with local Ukrainian organizations to deliver support efficiently and responsively and restated USAID’s commitment to coordinate humanitarian cash transfers with the Government of Ukraine.
