A Georgia man was been convicted for his role in a drug trafficking network responsible for bringing more than 150 kg of methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin and other illegal substances into southwest Georgia in 2019.
Jamie Keith, 40, of Albany, was found guilty of conspiring to possess with the purpose to distribute prohibited narcotics as well as methamphetamine, according to a June 28 Department of Justice news release. Keith is also known as JGottiDaBoss and Cocho.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to holding individuals caught trafficking large quantities of the deadliest narcotics accountable for crimes that damage the safety of our communities,” U.S. Attorney Peter Leary said in the release. “The success in putting an end to this significant methamphetamine and fentanyl network that was pushing some of the most addictive illegal drugs into southwest Georgia was achieved with the cooperation of federal, state and local law enforcement in a significant Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force operation.”
Keith was convicted with Artarious Davis, 41, of Albany, according to the release. Davis, also known as Showboat and Boat, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The defendants each face a maximum sentence of life in prison, the release reported.
“These criminals once profited by spreading this insidious poison throughout a number of communities in southwest Georgia, but the DEA and our law enforcement partners are in the business of protecting lives and serving those communities,” Robert Murphy, special agent in charge of the DEA Atlanta field division, said in the release. “Justice was served thanks to strong and strategic partnerships between the DEA and its local law enforcement counterparts.”
Keri Farley, special agent in charge of FBI Atlanta, said the case demonstrates how law enforcement is committed to protecting citizens from a deadly epidemic, the release reported.
“The FBI will continue to work diligently along our partners in the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force to investigate and dismantle drug trafficking organizations,” Farley said in the release.
