In a recent news release, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation confirmed new awards for the California-Great Basin Region offices.
Denise Caldwell, the region’s Safety and Health Specialist, was given the 2021 Commissioner’s Safety Professional Award for Safety Excellence. The award honors energetic work in employee empowerment, decreasing unwanted negative results and demonstrating highly effective leadership actions that create a positive change in the workplace safety culture and employee activity.
"I am extremely proud to acknowledge and present not one, but two distinguished safety awards for the California-Great Basin Region," Camille Touton, Bureau of Recreation commissioner, said in the release. "To be able to publicly recognize effective safety accomplishments for both an individual and the entire region at the same time clearly demonstrates exceptional safety and occupational health support to all regional facilities.”
In addition to this, the California-Great Basin Region was given the 2021 Commissioner’s Organizational Award for Safety Excellence. This award honors leadership that articulates the area’s safety ideas, holds staff accountable for meeting safety and health commitments, proactively deals with safety issues while carrying out optimum safety practices, incorporates and shares lessons learned, and demonstrates continuous improvement through risk management and mitigation.
The California-Great Basin Region offices are in charge of a wide variety of programs, such as the Central Valley Project, storage studies, restoration programs and others.
